Children’s Play Therapy in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Lake Worth, and Boynton Beach with Andrea Perlin, Licensed Mental Health Therapist
Play therapy utilizes the child’s desire to play as a means of helping the child understand and cope with their fears, worries, and conflicts.
Play therapy helps children understand their feelings and upsetting events that they haven’t had the chance to sort out properly. Rather than having to explain what is troubling them, as in adult therapy, children use play to communicate at their own level and at their own pace, without feeling interrogated or threatened. Since play is fun, it makes it easier for children to confront what is bothering them.
A safe, confidential and caring environment is created which allows the child to play with a few limits as possible, but provides emotional safety. Play and creativity allow the child to develop with guidance problem solving skills that can be utilized in their lives. These strategies guide them to cope with difficulties they face in life and bring resolution through play.
